Green Events 101 was created to serve as a web portal for those who are looking for the latest information and classes offered on event greening practices.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the meeting and event industry represents the second most wasteful industry in the U.S. trailing right behind the construction industry. The time is now. The Green Meeting Industry Council, APEX and the U.S. EPA are developing standards for green meetings to influence the behaviors of meeting planners and suppliers.

Why go green with your event?

In addition to waste, events produce significant carbon emissions. Evaluating your event’s carbon footprint and incorporating renewable energy credits and verifiable carbon offsets into your plan shows a proactive approach to mitigating those factors which fall outside your control.
