Democratic National Convention 2008

Hyatt Regency, Colorado Convention Center, Pepsi Center, Invesco Field

Denver, Colorado - August 25-28, 2008

For the first time in history, the Democratic National Convention Committee committed to implementing a sustainability plan to reduce the environmental impact of the event on the host city. TSI President, Jaime Nack, served as Director of Sustainability & Greening Operations and implemented the plan for the convention venues, including the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the Colorado Convention Center and the two sporting arenas (Pepsi Center and Invesco Field) in Denver, Colorado. Nack worked closely with the Denver Mayor's office and the Colorado Governor's Energy Office to implement renewable energy systems, clean transportation systems and waste diversion systems which stayed in place permanently after the Convention. The greening plan included: transportation, waste diversion, alternative energy, sustainable procurement, production and materials, green office standards, and a carbon offset program. Nack worked with Coca-Cola, Waste Management, General Motors, Xcel Energy and other major companies which served as Official Providers of various aspects of the greening plan.
