Lindsay Smith
Senior Strategist, Venues and Facilities
Lindsay Smith is a Senior Consultant helping facilities and venues employ sustainable practices within their operation. By focusing on energy consumption, water conservation, waste reduction and diversion, improved air quality, Ms. Smith is able to not only reduce a facility’s environmental impact, but also provide cost savings.
In her role as the first Sustainable Program Manager for a convention center, Ms. Smith’s path began at the Colorado Convention Center by implementing practices which resulted in significant cost and resource savings, while raising the profile of the convention center as a leader of sustainability. With the overarching goal of shifting the facility and events industries towards sustainability, Ms. Smith has consulted on projects nationwide ranging in scope from music festivals to sports arenas to developing community engagement and educations programs.
Currently, Ms. Smith serves as Vice Co-Chair on the APEX Green Meetings & Events Practices Meeting Venues Committees, President of the Green Meetings Industry Council Colorado Chapter, and a founding member of the EPA’s Rocky Mountain Green Venues Leadership Group. She is also a frequent speaker at conferences and author on the subject of Green Venue practices.
Ms. Smith earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a non-profit emphasis from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
